We are very proud to partner with Stuart O’Neill and his team at Just One Reason, one of Australia’s best suicide prevention books and now charities.
Stuart’s story is a very personal one. Raised in Melbourne Australia, Stuart’s mostly self-employed life has provided its fair share of highs and lows. His life story in the book easily resonates. Stuart first became an Australian Surf Lifesaver in the 1980’s. It is a passion that he still fulfills to this day. His desire to save lives now includes this book. The Just One Reason suicide prevention toolkit is the product of his out of the box thinking and willingness to help others.
After overcoming his own suicide ideation, he wrote a little but brilliant book called, Just One Reason, ie, find just one reason to stay alive. To date over 50, 000 copies are in circulation and have saved countless more lives as a result. This book reveals Stuart’s own strategy for beating your inner demons and offers a powerful and very easy solution to a world problem that is getting worse, not better.
He and his wife Susi have set up the first mental health pub in Deep Water, NSW, where people can drop in for a chat, knowing they are in a safe place, and someone is there to listen and help.
We are supporting Stuart in his South Australian tour of rural farms in quarter 2025 to hand deliver (via a 4-seater Cessna plane!) hundreds of copies of Just One Reason to fellow Australians who are doing it tough during a drought. Come back here for an update on that expedition after it happens.
